Our mantel turned out better than we had envisioned! The original 1946 brick facing had been painted several times over the years. The new "Indian Autumn" slate was bonded directly to the ruffed up brick surface using a fast curing thinset. We framed the slate with a 10" customized version of the Nucasa Wentworth Mantel.
